About Serendeco

Commercial Coir Expertise.
Direct Access to Sri Lankan Manufacturing.

Serendeco is a UK-based commercial coir substrate business working with growers, nurseries and horticultural businesses across the UK and Ireland. We combine a UK-based commercial point of contact with direct access to Sri Lankan manufacturing and a specification-led approach to product development and supply.

Our Position

Close to the Growing Requirement. Close to the Source.

Our role is to understand the buyer’s existing product or growing system, translate that requirement into a proposed coir format and specification, and maintain direct communication with Sri Lankan manufacturing as the commercial requirement develops.

  • UK-based commercial point of contact
  • Direct access to Sri Lankan manufacturing
  • Specification-led substrate discussions
  • Commercial trials where practical before scale
  • Commercial opportunities across the UK and Ireland
Who We Are

A Specification-Led Link Between Commercial Growers and Sri Lankan Coir Manufacturing

Serendeco was established to create a more direct, specification-led route between commercial horticultural requirements in the UK and Ireland and coir manufacturing in Sri Lanka. Rather than beginning with a fixed catalogue, we begin with the application, existing system and the product specification the buyer is trying to achieve.

01

Direct Manufacturing Access

Direct access to Sri Lankan manufacturing supports discussions around commercial grow slabs, refill media, compressed coco pith, husk chips and propagation formats without limiting enquiries to a fixed standard range.

02

UK & Ireland Commercial Focus

Serendeco provides a UK-based commercial point of contact while developing supply opportunities for growers, nurseries and horticultural businesses across the UK and Ireland.

03

Specification-Led Approach

Rather than treating coir as a single standard product, we discuss the crop or application, current growing system, product format and relevant technical requirements before progressing towards supply.

Why Sri Lanka

Direct Access to the Manufacturing Source

Sri Lanka has an established coconut and coir-processing industry. Serendeco’s direct manufacturing access keeps product and specification discussions close to the source when developing a proposed commercial format.

For commercial buyers, this supports discussions around factors such as supply format, dimensions, substrate structure, EC requirements, processing, planting or drainage configuration and packaging, subject to the requirements of the product and application.

Formats We Can Discuss

  • Commercial grow slabs and grow bags
  • Refill slabs for suitable reusable systems
  • Bulk and compressed refill media
  • Coco peat blocks, briquettes and husk chips
  • Propagation discs and coco fibre pots

How We Work

From Growing Requirement to Commercial Supply

The process starts with the buyer’s current system or intended application and develops towards a proposed specification, evaluation and commercial supply.

Step 01

Understand

We start with the crop or application, current substrate or product, growing system, format and approximate commercial requirement.

Step 02

Specify

A proposed format and specification can then be discussed around dimensions, substrate structure, EC requirements, processing and other relevant parameters.

Step 03

Evaluate

Where practical, the proposed product can be evaluated through a commercial trial in the buyer’s own application before larger-volume supply.

Step 04

Supply

Following evaluation, the quoted specification, quantity, packaging, delivery requirements and commercial terms can be confirmed for larger-volume supply.

Our Approach

Built Around the Requirement, Not a Fixed Catalogue

Commercial coir requirements vary by crop, growing system and application. A format suitable for one production system should not automatically be assumed to suit another.

That is why Serendeco starts with the buyer’s current system, specification and commercial objective before discussing a proposed alternative.

What That Means for Buyers

  • Start with the existing product or growing system
  • Compare relevant specifications rather than product names alone
  • Discuss grower-specific formats where manufacturing allows
  • Evaluate through a commercial trial where practical
  • Maintain one commercial point of contact through the process
